There is a joke in the teacher circle that goes: Ask a teacher during the school year what day it is and they will say, “Tuesday, May 5, 2018. 9:17:37am.” Ask a teacher during the summer what day it is and they will say, “Um…June?”
Here we are with one week left in June and I am definitely of the second response to this joke. Zoey and I have been having a ton of fun this summer so far with going on adventures each morning around town. We have been hiking (aka throwing sticks and rocks into rivers near a trail), to play groups, and to more specific attractions like aquariums and museums. I am loving all this one-on-one time with my little girl even if I do not really know what day it is.
Instead of a Friday workout, I have another month long health challenge for you all today! The July Health Challenge works very similarly to the June Health Challenge in terms of workouts, a weekly mentality focus, and twice weekly food challenges. While this health challenge is designed for the general, rather than a one-on-one approach, they are an excellent way to make small, realistic, and actionable steps towards improving your health. They are especially great if you know you need to make changes to your current health, but are not exactly sure where to start as they will give you a focal point.
With a daily focus on either movement, nutrition, or mentality the July Health Challenge includes items like:
- Limit your screen time
- Eat seven servings of vegetables in one day
- Evaluate the foods that give you energy versus deplete your energy
- Partake in a family workout
While these items may not seem all that arduous, that is the idea: to start implementing small, realistic, and actionable changes into your day so you do not feel overwhelmed, like you crash dieting, or like the “program” is impossible. After all, you never know how bad you feel until you start to feel better. Why would you not want to feel better right away?
You can get your July Health Challenge straight to your inbox by using the form below.
There is no formal check ins related to these Monthly Health Challenges, but if you decide to participate, you can head over the Facebook Group to share what you are doing and how it is going. You will definitely find others completing the challenge as well! If you post on Instagram about your daily challenge, please use the hashtag #julyhealthchallenge and tag me @wreckingroutine so I am sure to see it.
Are you up for the challenge?
