As the weather changes and the glow of summer fades before we move into the holiday season rush, our health most often takes a backseat as we start to get cozy and hunker down for the cold winter ahead.

The food changes from summery fresh salads to warming soups, chilis, and bakes. The days slowly start to get shorter as we head to bed earlier and struggle to wake up on time. 

I love being outside this time of year regardless of those changes. The fall colors, the crisp weather, the crunchy leaves. It all gives me even more of an excuse to breathe in the fresh air on long walks and runs and reintroduce fall recipes. 

I want you to join me in my love of the fall changes while maintaining our health.

Walktober

This program combines all of my favorite things: community, teams, movement, challenges, eating well, and enjoying the fall weather and foods as much as possible.

Since I absolutely adore the community building that fitness programs can offer, Walktober will be done in teams!

Not only will you have a team of three other people supporting you, but you will have your very own health coach and personal trainer by your virtual side. Teams are ideal as you all work toward a common goal.

What

In teams of four, you will combine forces to reach your team-set weekly goals.

When

The entire month of October.

How

Each week, your team will set three goals.

  • Step or mile counts
  • Strength workouts
  • Nutrition

As a team, you will work together to reach these goals. The team captain will report on the team’s progress twice a week in the Facebook group.

Each day, there will be check ins via the Wrecking Routine Facebook group to keep you accountable to your part in the goals. The Facebook group is also where you can find motivation, ask questions, and stay consistent with movement and healthier eating throughout Walktober.

Walktober is completely free!

Every team that registers by Monday, September 28 will receive the Walktober Nutrition Workbook. This workbook is designed to make the weekly nutrition focuses easier and sustainable to your everyday life. 

Form a team

Get your family, friends, and coworkers involved! Think about those people you walk with, talk about fitness with, or those you want to be more active. Team members do not have to be in the same location!

Weekly nutrition focus

Each week, there is a specific focus on eating more nutrient-dense foods.

Week 1: Hydration

Week 2: Eat protein with breakfast

Week 3: Make whole food snacks

Week 4: Consume 5 servings of vegetables each day 

Week 5: Have two meatless meals each week, or one per day

Prizes

Each week, there will be a team prize winner based on how well your team did to reach its goals and how supportive you were of each other.
