On Saturday, I got my lazy butt out of bed and headed to a race for the first time in months.

It was about a half hour drive to Arvada to run the Polar Prowl 10k run by All-Out Multisport Productions. They had a 5k and half marathon going on as well, but I wanted to re-enter the racing scene slowly.

The weather was warm, but super windy. Thankfully, the race organizers did a great job making sure all the races started on time. They even provided a clothing drop about 1 mile into the race in case you warmed up and wanted to shed some layers.

Half Marathon

Since I was at the race alone and a bit worried about how I would do, I didn’t chat with others much. However, everyone seemed to be really excited to be there and the overall vibe was friendly and fun.

Ready to run

I managed to run 6.2 miles under 55 minutes! I was aiming to get under an hour, so that bonus of 5 minutes really impressed me.

10k Time

I even scored 3rd in my age group, 20-29!

Swanky Plaque

During the 10k awards, the race organizers had put together a bunch of raffle prizes. Everyone was able to go home with some sort of extra perk. I won a free entree at Texas Roadhouse! Guess where date night will be next weekend?

Surprising, I wasn’t as sore as I thought I would be today. Which just means I have my eyes set on another race next weekend…
