On Saturday, I got my lazy butt out of bed and headed to a race for the first time in months.
It was about a half hour drive to Arvada to run the Polar Prowl 10k run by All-Out Multisport Productions. They had a 5k and half marathon going on as well, but I wanted to re-enter the racing scene slowly.
The weather was warm, but super windy. Thankfully, the race organizers did a great job making sure all the races started on time. They even provided a clothing drop about 1 mile into the race in case you warmed up and wanted to shed some layers.
Since I was at the race alone and a bit worried about how I would do, I didn’t chat with others much. However, everyone seemed to be really excited to be there and the overall vibe was friendly and fun.
I managed to run 6.2 miles under 55 minutes! I was aiming to get under an hour, so that bonus of 5 minutes really impressed me.
I even scored 3rd in my age group, 20-29!
During the 10k awards, the race organizers had put together a bunch of raffle prizes. Everyone was able to go home with some sort of extra perk. I won a free entree at Texas Roadhouse! Guess where date night will be next weekend?
Surprising, I wasn’t as sore as I thought I would be today. Which just means I have my eyes set on another race next weekend…

Nice AG place! Way to go. The last time I ran the Bolder Boulder, I ran it in 54 and was not expecting that at all. I need to start signing up for more 5 and 10Ks because I NEVER prioritize them. Next time you find a good one, let me know and I will see you there!
Nice work in that 10k! I don’t prioritize them either. Usually the half is only slightly more expensive than the 10, so I end up running it. I will let you know about the next one!
AWESOME!!!!!!!! Brooke, this is amazing!!! Great job! One of my fitness goals for this year is to run a 10k in under an hour! This gave me some motivation and inspiration!!!!! I LOVE Texas Roadhouse. Yum!!!!!
You can definitely do it! It’s a good distance. Not crazy fast like a 5k, but long enough to get into your own pace.
WooHoo!! Way to crush your goal and place in your AG!!!
Enjoy your date night at Texas Roadhouse!
Thanks, Kim!
Congrats! So cool you placed in your AG! I’m also training to run the Monument Ave 10k in under an hour.
Thank you! When/where is the Monument Ave 10k??
March 29 in Richmond, VA — it’s a big race, over 40,000 participants!
Rock on with your bad self! That’s an awesome finish! 🙂
Thank you!
