Take a look back month-to-month with me on the year in review as a stay at home mom and happenings from the multiple businesses I own.
In this New Year, I have been seeing these month-to-month recaps floating around. I have really enjoyed reading them from others and wanted to put my own together.
This past year, 2022, has felt big in so many ways. Zoey started first grade, we exited the baby phase as Hazel turned 2, I launched a new printable business, and Rob and I grew our racing company.
It has also been the year of lots of travel, we took 5 trips with the kids!, self-learning, and diving into this new phase as mom with the kids being a bit older.
2022 was full of lovely memories, many harder days with three young kids, and lots of hope, joy, laughter, and banging my head against the wall for parenting, business, life choices, and personal fitness and mental health.
Here we go with a little month-to-month recap. Some months were insanely busy while others were filled with all the things parenting and running a household of five.
January
- Launched SET 7 as realistic health program. It is currently not available, but will be coming as an evergreen program later this year.
- We explored all the indoor play areas around us. With child-geared businesses open again, we hit up all the indoor play places we could. The kids loved it!
- Hazel had her first haircut. This is always a huge milestone.
February
- Hazel turned 2! We officially entered the toddler world. With a 3 year old (William), and 2 year old, life was hard and required much patience.
- We took an epic family reunion trip to St. John, USVI. My parents spend most of the year in St. John and after 2-3 years of not seeing my sisters (I have 3), we had a massive family reunion in St. John. It was an incredibly magical week.
March
- Ran the free, 5 For 5 Vegetable Challenge. This challenge is always a welcomed one in the community and such a nice way to bring more vegetables into our diets after a long winter.
- Family trip to Louisiana and Mississippi. With our spring break, we took a trip, just the 5 of us, to these southern states. Filled with slow walks, restaurant dinners, and a full day at the local Children’s Museum, it was a wonderful slow and restful week.
- Launched Move Play Go! While my brand new printables business was supposed to launch in January, it took until March to get all the t’s crossed and i’s dotted to be ready for publishing. I love what Move Play Go is doing and am so glad to have it.
April
- The spring season of the Healthy Kids Running Series started! Rob and I have been race directing this kid’s running series for years and just love it. It takes a decent amount of time during the season, but seeing those little, proud faces at the finish line each week is worth it all.
- With the weather warmed up, we spent as much time outside as we could. Between walks to and from school, Easter egg hunts, and setting up outdoor games for them, we enjoyed being able to see the grass again and not having to wear snow pants.
May
- Wrecking Routine hosted Mile a Day May. This free challenge is a hit every year. I love the community feel of this simple challenge that encourages us all to get moving in the changing weather.
- Email subscribers enjoyed a 5 day series called, Self-Care Week. With daily tips that were realistic and actionable for incorporating a bit of self-care each day without needing extra childcare or time away.
- I started year 4 as a stay at home mom. I left teaching May 25, 2019 as I was pregnant with our third baby in just three years. I was so ready to be home with them and have been so grateful to do it these past three and a half years.
June
- Zoey turned 6! We threw her a pretty epic fairy garden tea party birthday party with all of her friends.
- William turned 4! We threw him a sweet outer space themed birthday party as a family of 5 (at his request).
- My parents visited us in Minnesota. It was nice to share the summer weather with them here and show them more of where we live.
- Zoey did her first ever acting camp. For a full week, Zoey headed off to acting camp, which culminated in a performance on the last day. She was incredible up there and just completely fell in love with the stage. I couldn’t stop smiling watching her do her thing!
July
- Rob turned 40! I threw him an awesome “40 years of fun and games” themed party with some raucous Kid-Friendly Minute To Win It games. It was the low-key celebration he wanted and I had the joy to plan.
- Power Habit Journal Cards launched! These brand new printable cards are ideal for making any habit stick in 31 days of tough, honest-with-yourself questions.
- We took a family trip to Denver! Rob and I lived in Denver for 6 years and moved to Minnesota when Zoey was 3 and William was 1. It was so fun to be back in our old stomping grounds and visit with lots of our old friends.
- Challenge Accepted launched! Instead of a full program, these challenge cards are an easy way to focus on your health just one habit at a time. I will be taking on these habits myself in 2023.
- Zoey competed in her first duathlon. Now that she is 6, she got to run the “big kid” race. It was so incredible to watch her run and bike a real distance with older kids. I was in tears proud of her.
August
- The garden was producing like crazy and it turned into my most epic garden year.
- We lived outside. Beach trips, walks, picnics, playgrounds.
- I promoted the Get More Done Bundle Sale. My printable product, Power Habit Journal Cards, were part of it. The sale got my product in the hands of more people, helped build my email list, and gave me a small commission.
September
- Hello Fall Health Bingo began! This week-long, free challenge helped everyone in the Fit & Healthy Lifestyle For Moms Facebook Group restart their health commitments as we headed back to school schedules.
- The fall season of the Healthy Kids Running Series started! This was our biggest race series to date and Rob and I just felt honored to have so much of our community come out to race with us.
- Zoey started first grade! This felt like the big time.
- Zoey buckle fractured her wrist. While playing on the playground after her Healthy Kids race one Sunday, Zoey fell wrong off the monkey bars. A trip to the ER later, she had a buckle fracture. I went a little Mama Bear on it and brought her to a different location two days later. (I was much happier with the brace situation and follow up care plan after that second visit.)
October
- Rob and I raced directed the Night Owl – 5k, 10k, 6 Hour Shuffle. After running this race last fall, I completely fell in love with it. It just so happened that the then director was ready to hand it off to someone else. Rob and I jumped at the chance to add a race to our Athena Clydesdale Racing repertoire. It was our first night race and we learned a ton with a happy group of runners.
- We took a family rip to Winona, MN. With a rough 3 days off, we headed a few hours south for a little sightseeing and hiking. It was a refreshing trip that was seriously exciting to see a different part of our state.
- Hazel got a big girl bed! We are officially out of cribs around here! And baby monitors. So many milestones you don’t realize are huge until they are gone.
- William is able to ride his bike with no training wheels! With all the bike practice to and from school pick up and drop off, William was determined to ride with no training wheels. In just 15 minutes, he had it!
November
- Promoted the Home Management Bundle that my own recipe ebook, 26 Easy & Healthy Pantry Meals was part of. This was a fun bundle to be part of as I am always looking for ways to streamline how I run the household.
- I started working out for specific fitness goals instead of just maintenance. After a few months of just working out to keep active, and because I love it, I began lifting heavier and doing specific interval workouts. The goal is strength, hypertrophy, and speed.
- Created the Thanksgiving Activity Bingo Pack at Move Play Go. This bundle of activities came together a bit at the last minute and I am super proud of getting it done so quickly.
- Rob and I race directed the Woodbury Wobble 5k. When we first moved to Minnesota, we were shocked that our town didn’t have a turkey trot, so we started one! This was our biggest year yet for the race with just over 200 runners. We are honored to have so many start their holiday with us.
December
- Hosted 12 Days of Fitmas featuring brand new workout cards. I have been thinking about creating these workout cards for almost a full year and was just so happy to have them out on trail with 12 Days of Fitmas. There will be more workout cards to come in 2023!
- We spent Christmas in Boston. Not only did I get to see two out of my three sisters for Christmas, but the kids got to run around with their cousins for a week. We did lots of sightseeing and really enjoyed the city.
- We threw an epic New Year’s Eve party for a few of our friends. This party was completely kid-oriented with a ball drop, sparkling juice toast, sensory bin, and crafts. It was a wild party, but a really special (and crazy) way to ring in the new year at 6pm.
There you have it! A full year in review with a few highlights on each month as a stay at home mom and multi-business owner. While I enjoyed writing this post, the only problem is that it doesn’t capture all the little tiny moments, trips, and smaller special events that go on each month. It would be entirely too many to list.
Here is to a wonderful 2023 filled with love, laughter, progress, and memories.
