Disclosure: I was given Sam’s Fresh Salsa for free in exchange for a recipe post. The salsa really is delicious and this really is a recipe my kids love! This post contains affiliate links.

As this summer began and friends asked what we were up to during these hot summer months, my instant response was to be outside as much as possible.

With the heavy winter season in Minnesota and my love of being outside, I refuse to squander any more time indoors than needed. Apart from the nap time hours, this summer has been filled with beach mornings, backyard pool splashing (we have a glorified kiddie pool – it has a slide), playgrounds, splash pads, outdoor concerts, vegetable gardening, and hikes.

Most mornings you can see me packing up towels, lunches (I adore these Bentgo boxes), and snacks to take with us on whatever adventure I have drummed up for us that day.

This Easy Watermelon Jicama Salsa Fruit Dip is the perfect afternoon snack for the kids while pool side in the backyard and it works as an appetizer for your summer parties.

The Sam’s Fresh Watermelon Jicama Salsa mixed with the creamy Greek yogurt, gives a little sweet and hint-of-spice kick. The fruit just disappears off the plate and everyone gets a little protein kick from the Greek yogurt.

Substitutions

There are not many substitutions to make to this dip other than the type of fruit you choose to serve it with. I highly recommend you stick with plain Greek yogurt rather than fruit added yogurt

The plain Greek yogurt really compliments the Sam’s Fresh Watermelon Jicama Salsa without spiking your added sugar ingredients.

If you do want your fruit dip to be a bit sweeter, you could add a tablespoon of honey to your dip, but I really find it doesn’t need it.

To up the protein factor, you could also add a teaspoon of chia seeds. This will change the texture of your fruit dip and make it a bit more chunky, which helps if you prefer a more solid dip style.

Best Dipping Fruits

My kids love just about every type of fruit, but certain ones are easier for dipping purposes.

  • Anything on a stick – This is an easy way to do berries!
  • Apple slices
  • Melon strips
  • Banana slices
  • Strawberries
  • Pineapple strips

You could also serve this appetizer with cashews, crackers, and pretzels.

If you are serving this appetizer to kids, I recommend you put their dips in little individual serving cups. That way, when the kids stick their fingers in the dip (and they will), they have their very own dip cup to use rather than a shared bowl.

Sam’s Fresh Salsa uses only fresh ingredients. The salsa contains no added preservatives, no artificial ingredients, and no additives. This salsa truly is loaded with flavor and tastes refreshing and perfect for summer party appetizers.

You can purchase Sam’s Fresh Salsa at ShopRite, Acme, and Safeway. If they are not in your local store, ask them to carry Sam’s Fresh products!
