If you have been following my blog for a while, or take a look at my Instagram, my love of running is obvious. I have run countless 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, and three marathons and have racked up a list of my favorite items over the years. The things that I find absolutely essential to running and use for every run. Even for the non-competitive runner, these gift ideas will be perfect for the runner in your life.

Fit Foodie Run

Garmin (GPS watch) – I completely adore my Garmin and have had three of them in my running career (15 years). From tracking distance, pace, splits, and some have a map feature, I very rarely run without my watch firmly on my wrist.

Nathan Water Bottle – Longer runs require water and this handheld is perfect to carry a water bottle. It is waterproof, easy to tighten as you go, and has a little zipper pocket to hold gus, keys, tissues, or whatever else you might need.

Race Entry – Most runners just love to race, but those entry fees can add up. Gifting a race entry would be ideal for most runners as it gives them a goal to train for. Not to mention a buddy to run with if you register too! Use Running In The USA to find one near you.

Jogging Stroller – We absolutely adored our Graco Click Connect Jogging Stroller for Zoey. It is ideal for taller runners as the handlebar is high. Now, we have a double Bob jogging stroller that we love. The newer models have taller handlebars.

Phone Arm Band. The arm band bothers some runners, but I like having quick, hands-free access to my phone. This one has worked really for me as it protects my phone, is waterproof, and dries out easily after a sweaty run.

Yurbuds – These headphones are above and away the best I have ever used. No shocks, great sound quality, and they stay put through runs, plyo workouts, and strength training. I have had two pairs in both blue and purple.

Training Plan – While most runners train by straight running, adding in specific interval days and runner specific weight training and core work can work wonders on personal records. If your runner is looking to complete a 10k or Half Marathon, then this training plan will be perfect for them to reach that finish line feeling strong and ready for more.

Sunglasses – Not all athletic sunglasses are created equal. Opt for a lightweight one with a rubber frame. These Oakleys stay put so incredibly well and run the sweat off of my face rather than into my eyes.

Wicking Running Hat – With all the time runners spend outside, sun protection is vital. This wicking running hat offers sun protection without soaking in sweat.

Ear Warmers – For the cold weather runner in your life, a good ear warm is going to be much appreciated. I love my Nike one, which I couldn’t find online, but this one is very close to the structure of mine. They do not move around on my head and I can still fit my Yurbuds underneath.

Road ID – Since running tends to be a solo sport most of the time, having a Road ID can provide peace of mind to runners and their families. If anything goes wrong out on the road or trail, they will be easy to identify and get the medical care they need. I love the one that goes on your shoe because you barely notice it is there. Use this link to save $5 on your order until December 28.

Chews / Salt Pills – This is only necessary if your runner is aiming for a 10k, half marathon, or marathon. Running fuels I love include:

Foam Rolling Stick – This stick is easy to pack in running bags and use at both starting and finish lines. Plus, it is not as exhausting to use as a full foam roller.

Gift card to running store – If all else fails, a gift card to a running store, or other athletic store, is going to be much appreciated. Consider places like:

  • Boulder Running Company
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods
  • Road Runner Sports

Basically, if you have a runner in your life, you cannot go wrong with one of these gifts. Anything running related will be very well received!
