Hello from New York!
It took Rob and I about 29 hours to get from Denver to NY due to a cancelled flight from Chicago to NY. We spent a very uncomfortable night in the airport, but are finally here!
Let’s rewind a little to Wednesday morning. Rob and I got up bright and early (for us in the summer) and headed to Denver’s Capital Building to see what the November Project was all about.
Amy (Run Write Hike) asked me earlier in the week if I wanted to check it out, so of course I said yes. Get up early and go to a boot camp to hang out with a fellow blogger? Right up my alley.
If you’re not familiar with the November Project, it’s a free bootcamp put on twice a week in a whole bunch of cities across the US. It’s open to all fitness levels and there is no pressure to be competitive.
The leader of the group welcome us with a hug and things got started right away with running up and down the Capitol Building stairs. At first, I thought this was just our warm up, but after about 10 minutes, I realized this is what we were going to be doing. For 45 minutes. I wish I had thought to bring my Garmin to see how much ground I covered in that time.
Occasionally, the group leader would ring a cow bell and call out a move for us to stop, drop, and complete. The order went: 10 push ups, 10 squats, 5 burpees, 10 push ups, 10 squats.
Though I wasn’t impressed with the creativity of the workout, my legs were shaking and the sweat was rolling by the end of it. Being a distance runner, the stairs are definitely helpful for building strength and stamina and with Chase the Moon sneaking up on me, I’m not complaining about the extra leg work.
I’m not sure if I’ll have time this summer to go another day, but it would be interesting to see if the workouts change. Plus, it’s free and you can’t beat that.
The Denver tribe meets every Wednesday at 6:15 at the Capital Building as well as Friday’s, same time, but always a different place. This Friday will be at the Cheesman Park playground if you’re in the area!

Fun! I love the pic of you and Amy 🙂
SO SORRY you ended up in the airport for such a long time 🙁
I became aware of the November Project in the Runner’s World Magazine. I wish we had one in our area….that is so awesome!!!!!!!!! They have a HUGE one in Boston 🙂
Hope you have safe travels 🙂 🙂
I want to try November Project! That workout looks killer. I never do stairs… mainly because there are no long staircases here (except at the football field, which is kept locked).
The November Project sounds awesome. Too bad it is so far from my house. I have seen “moms on the run” advertised locally here but it is NOT free. I’m glad to hear you made it to NY!!!
Oh no, I must have cursed your trip by telling you about my Chicago experiences 🙁 I am SO SORRY! Anyway, I had so much fun and thanks for coming out there with me!
Ooh, I have been wanting to try the November Project, but honestly hadn’t looked for it in Denver yet. Will maybe give it a shot!
So cool that you and Amy (and Rob) did that together. I commented on Amy’s blog – I didn’t realize you were so tall!!!
Bummer on the delayed flight – glad you finally made it – enjoy!!!
I never heard of this. How fun! I need to see if these are in Phoenix. Those stairs look killer!
You should check it out! Phoenix might be too hot right now for it though.
