Heather, over at Run Like a G!, nominated me for the Liebster Award! Heather told me a few days ago that we have been blends (blogger+friend) for over a year now. How cool is that?! Thank you Heather!
The Liebster Award is an award for bloggers given by bloggers. I was nominated once before by a blogger who, sadly, no longer blogs. Heather added the twist of nominating bloggers who she thinks should run a marathon. Love it.
Here are the answers to the 11 questions Heather asked her nominees:
{1} What state do you live in? Living in Colorado right now! I have lived in Arizona, Vietnam, New York, and Connecticut all in the last 6 years. Phew!
{2} You won a free entry for ANY marathon in the world, which would you choose? New York! I know Boston is supposed to be wonderful, but since I grew up in and around New York and my family lives in and around New York, I would love to do that race.
{3} Will you run a marathon? I have run two already, both the Rock ‘n Roll Phoenix. They didn’t go as well as I would have liked, so I am gearing up to run another. I started training the past few months, but had to stop because, you know, life. My parents and sister, Kate, came to watch both my Arizona marathons. It was so wonderful having them there as a support system!
{4} What does training look like for you, when you are in training for a race? I’ve learned a lot about training since my first year of post-college competitive racing. My week breaks down into three days a week of running (2 as intervals), and two days a week of strength training. Strength training for runners is just as important as actually running! I did absolutely zero weight training during my first full.
I also always take at least one rest day each week, sometimes two. Plus, I eat as clean and healthy as I possibly can while hydrating hydrating hydrating!
{5} What is your favorite course to run? In Arizona, there was a mountain park near my apartment that was a 6 mile loop. I ran it every Thursday!
{6} How many hours of sleep do you get? Teacher = embarrissingly early bedtime and 8 hours of sleep otherwise I’m exhausted. My tempur-pedic and I meet around 9 (or earlier) and I am up at 5. Ok, 5:15 because I lay there for a bit since I like to wake up slow.
{7} What is your favorite spring/summer activity? Hiking, biking, camping, doing silly things like driving down a dark road to star gaze for a while. Basically anything outside.
{8} What is something on your bucket list? To do a race with my family!
{9} What is your favorite food? Pizza. I could seriously live on pizza. It’s best when it’s cold, though I know my Dad is cringing at this since he likes his hot hot hot.
{10}What is your favorite ice cream flavor? If Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked isn’t available, it’s Mint Chocolate Chip. I really try not to buy ice cream any more though since I can’t seem to stop eating it!
{11} What is your favorite quote? What I say most often is: “The definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting different results.” I teach high school. It fits. The quote I think about most often for the past year and few months is:
The rules of the Liebster Award ask me to nominate 11 other bloggers, but like Cassie, I think everyone I know has been nominated already! If you haven’t been nominated, I nominate you! (Thank you, Cassie, for this idea!)

I love cold pizza! Best breakfast ever! Seriously, it is the best! And
I hear you about that waking up slowly thing.
I chose New York as my freebie marathon, too! Now, if we can just find someone to actually give us these free entries…
Also, are you not doing Colfax anymore?
I like cold pizza, too!
Love that quote – I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it before!
I love pizza too and it’s kind of a catch all because you can putt anything on as a topping. and cheese, cheese is just amazing.
It’s all about the cheese.
I could live off of pizza as well. It is so YUMMY!!!!!!
