Phew! I feel like this is the first time I have sat down all weekend!
Rob and I spent this weekend pursuing open houses in our neighborhood. Since Rob passed his real estate test, he wanted to see what was out there. I was more than willing to go with him to get ideas about what kind of house we might be able to have in the future.
We saw about 7 houses on Saturday and 6 on Sunday.
One house we stopped at, just for fun and because it was on our way to another, was going for 2.9 million! It was absolutely beautiful, but way out of our price range.
The one downside about the houses within our budget are that they lack backyards. Both Rob and I grew up with huge backyards and want to find something similar. That’s going to be tougher to do than we thought!
The weekend ended with a few beers on the rooftop of a bar near our apartment. It was a gorgeous day today and we wanted to soak up some vitamin D.
Thankfully I am on spring break for the next two weeks, so I don’t have to set an alarm for Monday morning. Woot!

What a fun thing to do on a weekend! You know I’m a “housaholic” and would be right there with you two!! Have fun!
Like mother, like daughter. 🙂
I honestly have no idea what kind of house I want! I know I want a breakfast nook and a reading nook 🙂
Gunshow is actually terrified of buying a house because of the $. I think someday we will have a house but not for another few years. If we decided to have kids, I would definitely want one. I would love to go look at houses though to see what kind I would want! And I agree, a big backyard is a must! 🙂
Happy Spring Break! Enjoyyyyy!!!
The money is definitely an issue. That’s why I have to look at it as an investment. With renting, your money doesn’t get you anything in return. Still scary though. I’m with Gunshow!
I love going to Open Houses!! So fun to see how houses are decorated and styled! I don’t know if our house is my dream house (because it’s in Kansas!!!) but we really like our house!! We have been here 10 years (a huge record for me!) and will be here at least 5 more (until Chris retires and we move to my dream location – beach!).
Glad you have spring break coming up – nice that it is 2 weeks!
10 years?! That is a huge amount of time!
Ah! This sounds like so much fun! As long as you are just looking at houses and not actually trying to buy one in this crazy market, looking is FUN! It gets stressful when you actually really want one of the houses. We bought a place with a pretty small backyard, but it is big enough for plenty of garden space, room for dogs to run, and a nice big patio. We also made sure that if we were going to have a yard that small, we would be close to a big park, which we are. And we got a nice, older house, which is exactly what we wanted. Plenty of work to do on it to make it feel like ours! Email me if you have any questions or need advice if you are actually looking. NPR just had another story this morning on how hot the Denver market is. Its crazy, but things are out there that fit your needs perfectly.
That’s right, you had such a hard time with your house hunting! It’s wonderful that you have found something that works for you guys. When Rob and I start looking for real, I will definitely be in touch. I want to hear all your tips! It might not be for 6 months or so.
You have a 2-week spring break?! Daaaang. Open houses are so fun… even the ones that you’re not at all interested in.
Yup! My school is trying to move to the year-round system. So you get a shorter summer, but longer breaks at fall, winter, and spring. Our students lose a lot of knowledge during the long summers.
