Yesterday, I laced up my new shoes and headed out in the sunny Denver morning for a long run. My goal is to slowly build my mileage, not for anything in particular, but just so in the event of wanting to run another half or full, I have a solid base built up.
Since my legs felt pretty heavy at last Saturday’s 10k, I was a little nervous about the run. For some reason though, I felt great! Whether it was the packed trail, the gorgeous day, or just the change in holiday diet to mostly clean eats finally kicking in, I didn’t use my music and ran more than I had planned.
After I showered and got something to eat, Rob and I went on a mission to find bicycles. I hang my head in shame that we have lived in Denver for 6 months and had yet to buy bikes. Thankfully, our wait was more than worth it.
Our plan of attack was to go to a local bike shop by our apartment and then head off to Sport’s Authority and Dick’s to compare. I was geared up for a long afternoon of bicycle shopping. Turns out, this was a one stop deal.
When we walked into Pedal, Jake helped us right away. After asking us a few questions about what we wanted to do with our bikes, he sent us off on a test ride.
Three miles later, windswept, and grinning like kids, we were sold! Jake was extremely knowledgeable, honest, and helpful. All the other guys at the bike shop were very friendly and excited for us to be getting the rides we did.
The other benefit of going with Pedal is that they offer complimentary lifetime tuneups and wire changes. Plus we got free swanky water bottles that are perfect for our hikes, runs, and bike rides. Score!
The last bikes we rode were in Vietnam. Before that, I was on a purple Giant I got when I was 14.
Having a bike that fits my 6-foot frame is glorious!
We ended up on an 8 mile sunset ride. All the activity put my combined running and biking activity up to almost 21.68 miles! I know this is just a walk in the park for some people, but I am feeling it this morning! Worth it.

Yay for bikes! I miss living in a bike-friendly city. My bike is still the road/mountain hybrid that I rode everywhere in college. I love it and wish I could take it more places!

Yay for bikes! I am sure it will be much easier to bike to work now that I live 2 miles outside of downtown, but early morning cold wind and my hands do not do well. Come spring, though, and I will be biking all the time! You are 6 feet tall, really? Its hard to tell from your pictures!
Definitely wait for the summer on biking to work. Yes, I am 6 feet (5’11” 3/4 to be exact). My husband is 6’5” so I look normal height in our photos together.
