This past week has been a complete whirlwind! From the moment we landed in New York on Sunday, we had a jam packed schedule of holiday events.

Monday, after picking up our rented 12 passenger van to haul 9 people around, we drove to see the construction site of my parents’ new house.

It’s going to be such a sweet house and nice summer spot once it’s finished.

Following our tour, we stopped for dinner at my Aunt and Uncle’s house. They just got a new puppy who was absolutely adorable at just 4 months old. He dive-bombed under the table where we were playing cards.IMG_2100

On Christmas Eve, we had lunch with some family friends, enjoyed a song-filled church service, and then played Crimes Against Humanity.

If you’ve never played Crimes Against Humanity, it is basically Apples to Apples for adults and can be rather inappropriate. Playing with my parents and 94-year-old grandmother provided some quality entertainment, especially when one of the cards my grandmother won on said “10 pounds of Mexican black tar heroine.” Too funny.

Christmas morning was gloriously lazy as we hung out in PJ’s and did some extended gift opening.

My family likes to open one gift at a time and taking turns in that way allows Christmas to last.

The most hilarious part of the day was when we tried to distract my mom to put her new computer on her desk without her knowing. It was a team effort to keep her boxed in and distracted in the kitchen while two other people set up the computer on her desk in secret. Her expression was priceless!

The rest of Christmas involved making Christmas cookies, a walk in the chilly air, dinner, and more Crimes Against Humanity.

These past two days after Christmas have been filled with more family time, rides in the 12 passenger van, and more food than I can handle. It’s been such a great week, but has gone entirely too fast!

9 people means lots of shoes.

Tomorrow, Rob and I head to Minnesota to spend time with his family. The forecast is looking cold, cold, cold.

RQ: How was your Christmas? More mellow or more whirlwind?
