There is a debate happening in my household.
About floss.
You opened this post. Now you’re in it.
I brush my teeth first and then floss. My thought is the toothbrush can get my teeth mostly clean and the floss fine tunes it all.
Rob flosses first and then brushes. He gave me a house analogy as his reasoning. You scrap the paint off the house before you paint it.
So who is doing it wrong? Is there a wrong as long as you remember to floss?

Brush first, then floss. I am with you!
Woot! Thank you!
Two votes for brushing first. But hey, at least he flosses.
Brush then floss. And that’s what they do to me at the dentist so I figure they must be right.
That was my thinking.
I can’t believe these responses. Definitely floss then brush. My reasoning is that I want to get rid of the in-between plaque before I start brushing. If I floss post brushing I think there will still be plaque that gets moved around from flossing.
Pretty logical, actually.
I floss then brush!!
i’ve had this same argument with multiple family members. i floss first (while most do the other way) because the floss takes about a bunch of gunk from my teeth and then the tooth brush/paste gets all that out. plus then the paste can really get in there and clean. i actually asked my dentist about it and they said that it doesn’t really matter as long as you’re flossing. but i’ve seen the stuff that comes out when i floss and i wouldn’t want that hanging around in my mouth 🙂
That’s a good point. And if the dentist said it was good either way, then I guess everyone is right.
