Happy Hump Day! Between being crazy busy at work and coming home to study NASM until bedtime every night, I feel like this week is flying!
I wanted to share with you all another date that Rob and I went on during our two week mini-moon. Wine tasting with a twist: it came with chocolate!
In downtown Littleton (the suburb of Denver we live in), there is a shop called The Chocolate Therapist. They specialize in all natural chocolate that they make in the store and put on these wine and chocolate pairing tasting classes.
We joined a class with 7 other people and the tables were set up with plates, cups of water, wine glasses, and a folder with some information.
The woman conducting the class gave us an introduction on how chocolate is made, how good it is for you, and let us taste the beans and bits before they become delicious. Definitely an acquired taste.
Then it was time to sip and taste. There were 4 different wines, and with each wine came 2 different chocolates. The system was to sip the wine, keep a bit in your mouth and then bite into one of the chocolates. The way they interacted was really interesting and tasty. Both the wine and chocolate totally changed taste!
Once the tastings were done, we got to choose one of the wines to have a glass of while we perused the shop. The place is adorable and has a very mom-and-pop feel. You can tell a lot of love has been put into the chocolate and set up of the shop.
Rob and I both had fun tasting wine and exploring the different chocolates. Our walk home had us extremely full with the 8 different chocolates we tried. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but they were so dense and filling!
The class gives you a discount on anything you buy that night, so we have been selecting one or two every other night from this box of deliciousness.

I always see Groupons for this and it looks so fun! Now it want to try it even more.
You should! It only lasted about an hour and half, but you could have dinner in Littleton beforehand to make a longer night of it.
We are hoping to do some wine tastings at our new venue – I will have to remember the chocolate pairing and try to get the local chocolate place to pair up with us!!!
What a great way to bring people in! I really enjoy wine tastings, you should make it happen.
This sounds amazing!!!!! 🙂
What a fun date night!
Good luck with your studying!!!
Thank you!
First of all – your wedding band is gorgeous!
I’ve wine tasted in Santa Barbara, Nashville, Saratoga Springs and New Paltz (NY). I’d have to say Santa Barbara was my favorite, for obvious reasons I’m sure 🙂
This looks like it was so much fun! I’ve never done a chocolate tasting but now I really want to!
Thank you! I am a huge fan of it and the fact that it is so shiny. Santa Barbara sounds like a beautiful taste to wine taste. What was Nashville like?
The winery in Nashville was very unique, it was located on an old thoroughbred plantation called Belle Meade. The wines were more on the sweet side, my favorite had infusions of blackberry. Yum 🙂
Yum! This looks like so much fun! We were in CA this summer and found a winery that allows dogs to run around (both inside and outside among the grapevines) as you sit at the counter and taste. It was so chill and relaxed. We had been to a place before it where we felt rushed and pressured to buy, but this place was so cool that we wanted to buy a lot just because it was so cool 🙂
That sounds like the perfect wine tasting experience. It’s the best when they don’t pressure you.
A night filled with chocolates and wines will sure to make you crazy. The best tasting wines resemble on that beautiful night you spend to have your wine and chocolates.
