Since Rob had to get back to work on Tuesday after the wedding, we weren’t able to have a honeymoon. Instead, I planned two weeks worth of date nights for us to have a mini-moon here in Denver.
We are planning to head to Europe this summer for our “official” honeymoon, but my goal was to make the time after our wedding special and memorable in some way. I would say this did the trick.
I used the same tips I shared for making 12 months of dates to make these two weeks and have to say that Groupon is my favorite thing in the world.
Here are the dates we went on:
- Game night at home with heavy appetizers : scrabble, cards, trivial pursuit
- Chocolate and wine pairing class
- Alamo Drafthouse – they do movies and dinner
- Stir to Learn Iron Chef Cooking Class
- 3-Part Date: climb our first 14-er, make your own 6-pack, and red box double feature
- 2-Part Date: brunch and mini-golf
- Pho Real – Vietnamese food
- Junk food and dessert dinner only (shop together for the food)
- Dave and Buster’s
- Price Fix Dinner for two
- Bowling
- The Great Pumpkin Haul race – you carry a pumpkin and run 2 miles over obstacles
I will be sharing a few of our favorite dates because they were ones that I think you guys would enjoy as well. Poor Rob had to work and then come home to these evenings. He looked forward to them, but he didn’t get a chance to rest!

What a great idea!!!
We didn’t go on our honeymoon for almost 8 months – Chris actually had to leave 2 days after the wedding for his next training and I had a week of school left (I was teaching at the time) before I could join him. We went on a cruise in January after being married in May – worked out fine!!!
I didn’t know you were a teacher? or did I? How long did you teach for?
Just 3 years – after Jordan was born I quit. (middle school science is what I taught & I coached volleyball, basketball and track)
This is such an awesome idea! I love it!
We got married in October and didn’t honeymoon until January. I actually loved the belated honeymoon, it kind of stretched out the fun. We wanted to do something affordable since we had a big trip to Madrid, Spain coming in May – so we went to Disney World and it was so relaxing and fun. It was nice to escape the upstate NY winter and go somewhere beachy and warm!
It seems like delayed honeymoons are more and more common now. You guys did the right thing by escaping those NY winters. They really are rough.
Your mini-moon sounds awesome!
JG and I also had a belated honeymoon!
We took a mini-moon to CT for a weekend the first weekend in June. (We were married 4.28.12). Then in Nov. 2012 we went to Vegas 🙂
Love the double celebration. Where in CT did you go? That’s where my parents live.
