The reception had a great deal of highlights that will forever be vivid in my memory. Here they are: (I will add more pictures once I get them, everyone was busy dancing all night!)

  • Being announced into the reception hall with the bridal party in sunglasses, everyone doing their own entrance dance moves, and “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” playing the background.

  • Everyone dancing before salad, between entrees, and throughout dessert. It was one giant dance party all night long!

  • Dancing in a giant group circle with everyone getting in the middle at different times to show off their moves. This included one of our family friends doing what was dubbed, “the spaz dance”. It looked exactly like it’s name. Epic!

  • A polka coming on and the entire Minnesota (Rob’s) side getting two stepping. They were so good!
  • The bouquet toss where my cousin, who is my age, caught it and was positively glowing the rest of the night. She and her boyfriend might be next!
  • Going up to cut the cake and the caterer asking, “Do you know what you’re doing?” No, no we do not. We didn’t even know that we had to link arms to sip the champagne. We just aired cheers everyone.

  • Being followed around my own personal papparazi all night. My new niece, Iris, took at least 100 pictures of me throughout the night. Most of them were at boob height because that’s as high as her arm could reach.

I just love the photo bomb.

  • Catching up with all the friends and family I hadn’t seen in years!
  • Rob’s sister, my bridesmaid, Amanda, pulling Rob and I aside during one the dance parties to make us appreciate the fact that everyone was here for us. To take in the moment. She made me cry, for the first time all night. (Check out her post on it here!)
  • My grandma getting on the dance floor with her walker and all to show off a few moves. One of our family friends who also uses a walker got on the floor to boogie a bit as well!

Pre-wedding gorgification

  • My dad telling me I need ballroom dance lessons during our dance together.
  • The bromance moment between Rob and one of his groomsmen at the table. There were tears.
  • My oldest friend, the one who did the reading at the ceremony, being so happy that she was in tears by the end of the night.
  • The seriously tasty surf and turf dinner we actually had a minute to eat!
  • The speeches from my dad, Rob’s brother, and Margot, being so sweet, thoughtful, and heartfelt. People laughed, people cried.
  • Our hotel room after the reception. The kids (who are now in college) I used to babysit for, close family friends, decorated our room before the wedding. It was amazing and such a special thing to come back to.

Hotel Room

We finally crashed around 2 am, but were up at 6 to say good bye to those who had to catch flights and to head to the delicious champagne brunch at my parents’ house. We were so so sad it was all over!
