As you might be able to tell from the title, I have a very exciting announcement:
I am studying to be a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer!
If you remember from way back in June, I hinted at a box that had arrived at my parents’ house.
That box contained my NASM CPT textbook, access to my online study materials, and a logo backpack that has already come in handy multiple times.
Unfortunately, between moving back from Vietnam, visiting family, and planning a wedding, I haven’t had a chance to break into studying until last week. I was really nervous about cracking the book since, as an English major, I was not one to study textbooks. Usually I just read a novel, wrote a paper, and was done.
In the last two weeks of hitting the books, my fears have been eased. The NASM content is interesting, the book is really well laid out, and everything I am learning is immediately useful.
On top of that, NASM offers an online eLearning Center complete with videos of chapter contents, review activities, a Q&A forum, and weekly emails of suggested study topics.
NASM only gives its future trainers 6 months to study and take the certification test. I have to take my test before December 14 and though that date seems far away right now, it is actually speeding closer faster than I would like.
Maybe I should have waited until life was a little normalized to do this?
*If you’re interested in becoming a NASM CPT, contact Michael Golembewski via email, Michael.Golembewski@nasm.org, or phone (602) 383-1263. He will be able to set you up with everything you need to get going!
RQ: Are you a textbook person or a novel/essay person? Do you know anyone who is a NASM CPT?
