It’s been a little while since I’ve run longer than 20 minutes. Not having a race to train for, and only really being able to run on the treadmill, is the anti-motivation.
Today, I hopped on the treadmill for a nice and easy 30 minutes. I put on some tunes (thank you, Ani DiFranco) and just grooved. It was awesome.
Maybe it was my conflicting brands that helped me along?
I forgot how zen a long run can make me feel. The uninterrupted time to think and calm my brain has been sorely missed. Talk about quiet moments.
Even though it was only 3 miles, not a kick-ass 10 miles like Heather, I am still thrilled to have found the zen again. I am really looking forward to getting back into the running scene when I’m state side again.
RQ: Do you feel zen during a workout, or is it pretty much mental/physical pain the whole time?

I love the zen feeling after a good run. Not every run do I get the zen feeling, but when I do its the best feeling in the world. Makes you feel like you can accomplish anything.
Absolutely! I can’t help but think of that Legally Blonde quote: Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t kill their husbands.
Hahahahaha!! Such a good quote/movie!
Thanks for shouting me out!
A mile is a mile!
I love just running 3 miles – it is an awesome distance and you can go hardcore or do your own pace and forget all about the world!!
You deserve it!
For me it depends… I had total Zen today, but there are other days that I count the minutes!
