It’s been a total Debbie Downer week. I have had no motivation to do much of anything besides go to work and come home. I even ate lunch out three times this week, which never happens. Usually it’s only once, as a treat.
Instead of berating myself for the down-in-the-dumps attitude I had, I am going to think of it as a system reboot. A mental recharge, if you will. Now that I’m recharged, this week is going to be much better.
Workout Recap
Since it was a rough week for me, I had zero interest in going to the gym. Sometimes that’s good though. When your mind and body can’t get motivated, then your body is trying to tell you something.

Weekly Challenge
I was too busy last week focusing on getting myself right to do any of the weekly challenge, so I am instituting a do-over. Same one from last week, plus the extras from the week before that I missed. Man, I am off my game!
RQ: Do you have off weeks in terms of workouts, chores, regular life, where you just can’t get motivated?

I’m Brooke Selb, a Personal Trainer and Health Coach specializing in helping busy moms and moms to be to easily juggle mom life with family friendly recipes, and easy exercise routines to help you achieve your fitness goals that fit in with your already busy life with sound nutritional advice.

That was me last week! I really shouldn’t be taking whole weeks off though since I am literally one day into my 5k training plan. But I’ve been having trouble figuring out a routine, especially the where & when. It’s so frustrating! Hopefully this week I figure it all out. I hate not being in a routine 🙁
That’s probably the hardest part, getting out of the routine. Good luck on your 5k training! I find 5ks addicting.
Yes, I had an off-week last week. AND I ate out a few times too! But made a u-turn today and back to the routine. Starting with lunch walk. I go through these down times a few times a year – but I don’t beat myself up over it 🙂
It’s nice to know other people are having down weeks also. Glad to hear you’ve started the turn around.
To be honest, I’m not confident enough in my willingness to return to working out to take too many days off in a row.
Seems like sometimes you need it, though, and if you take it you should nod and then get back to business.
How do you like the weekly challenge idea? Where do you get yours from?
I worry about getting back into it as well. It’s definitely easy to get into a rut. I like the weekly challenge because they are things I can do when I’m watching TV or bored at the house. I am pretty sure it came from the one ever full episode of Biggest Loser I watched a few years ago.
Where do you find the challenges ~ or do you write them yourself?
I write them myself. They were inspired by an episode of Biggest Loser where the contestants couldn’t leave the gym until they completed so many push ups and lunges. I thought it was a cool idea.
