There is something I have known about myself for years, since college really, that I am a bit embarrassed about.
I despise cleaning the house.
Doing dishes is fine, laundry is not a huge deal, taking out the trash is oddly satisfying, and picking up is simple, but I will happily and easily find any other thing to do than dust, vacuum, mop, or scrub. I would also much rather be outside than indoors for anything.
(Note that our house was currently under remodel in the below photo.)

Granted, I have gotten much better in my disdain over the last four years since I want to have a tidier home for the kids to roam and play in, but it takes me some serious motivation and effort to get the cleaning done. It also helps me a ton that Rob likes things clean because it encourages me to get it done.
I am enamored with those Pinterest-perfect cleaning schedules and find them inspiring, but know the reality of keeping up with them is unlikely for me. Instead, I usually spend about 30 minutes (or until the kids start fighting) once a week blitz cleaning the house.

This blitz includes the bathrooms – which are always my first priority, a quick vacuum on at least one floor, and a small bit of dusting on our main surfaces. It is truly the bare minimum at best if I am being honest.
Here is the thing though, I want to be better at it. I want to enjoy it so I will actually do it. I want to get into some kind of cleaning routine that allows me to neatly check off boxes for it getting done.
For my movement-oriented brain, it helps to tie the house cleaning to a type of functional exercise workout.
Well, here it is.
The Blitz Cleaning The House Workout that focuses on the functional movements you would use to tidy and clean the house without breaking a sweat. Moves like bending over to pick things up, lunging to get the vacuum in all the tight spots, pulling on a broom, mop, or vacuum, and reaching on your tiptoes to the top corners and shelves in the house to dust.

Like my house cleaning fortitude, this workout is quick. The whole thing can take just 12 minutes. That’s an amount of house cleaning I can get behind.
