We over scheduled our three year old. 

We have officially been living in Woodbury, our new town in Minnesota, for a little over two months. Once we figured out where we were going to be living, we started hunting out part time preschools for Zoey. 


Rob and I were on the fence about having Zoey in preschool. We do a lot of learning at home, so she knows a lot of her letters and numbers. She also spent the first two years of her life in daycare, so we were not too concerned about her ability to follow classroom routines. 

We ultimately decided to find a part time preschool for her in preparation for baby #3’s arrival. Zoey is such an incredible big sister, but having her own space to go to and take a break from the newborn and one year old little brother life is going to be so good for her. 

Since we moved to Woodbury in late August, every preschool was full and we were waitlisted at one nearby. Apparently registration starts in February for the particular program we felt would be the right fit. 

While we waited, we signed Zoey up for a dance class once a week because a three year old in a ballet outfit is just about the cutest thing on the planet and we wanted to give her that autonomy somewhere. 

Then she got off the waitlist. 

For the past four weeks, Mondays have consisted of dropping Zoey off at preschool, William and I take off to a Monday morning playgroup, we pick Zoey up thirty minutes early from school, have a snack in the car, and then she goes to dance class. 

While she is at dance class, William eats his lunch. 

On our way home, William is able to fall asleep for his nap and then head straight to his crib while Zoey and I eat lunch together before her afternoon quiet time.

Ok, so maybe I over scheduled myself.

Thankfully, this past Monday was our last dance class and culminated in an adorable little performance that grandparents, spouses, siblings, and cousins of all the dancers showed up to. While I am going to miss seeing her in that little dance outfit, I am thrilled that our hectic Monday’s have come to an end.

Those of you with older kids who are orchestrating drop offs and pick ups for multiple children: hats off to you. 

I remember when my mom would basically be driving in our red minivan from the time I was done with track practice until it was time for bed. With three sisters, all of us in sports, music, tutors, volunteer groups, dance, and art, making sure we were all where we needed to be on time was quite a feat. 

These were also the days before cell phones, so there was lots of asking to use phones, or trying to find quarters for pay phones to call home for pick ups. 

When there is some downtime in places you have to be and you need to get out of the car, this Beginner Walking Workout is the perfect way to stretch those legs. 

While this workout does take 43 minutes to complete, you can do as much as you can with the time you have. You could even break it up between drop offs and pick ups as your timing allows. 

A beginner would be someone who has not started walking or working out consistently, but is mostly sedentary. This workout has you walking quickly for short spurts and then gives you double the amount of rest to recover your muscles and your lungs before the next quick pace. 

Grab your phone (I adored my Garmin Forerunner) or watch timer, put on a podcast or playlist, and get out of the car. Your kids can even be in the stroller, or biking or walking next to you since the push paces are not too long. They would have fun picking up the pace with you! 

Or bait them with snacks in the stroller while you get it done. I am not above bribery.
