It is extremely hard to believe that summer is half over already. Since my school is moving to a more year-round model, we are only off for 6 weeks whereas most school districts give between 8-12 weeks. I know, I know. All you non-teachers are rolling your eyes and throwing profanity-laden thoughts my way. It’s just the nature of the job people.
If it makes you feel better, I spent the entire day lesson planning and will be working all this week and next week. Granted this week is half days and I don’t have to report to anyone, but next week I have three days of nothing but meetings for a professional development trip.
No, don’t feel better? Well, here are some other things I’m really looking forward to this month:
- AVID Training trip to Sacramento for work
- Chase the Moon Endurance Run
- Rockie’s vs. Twins Game
- Rob’s birthday (32!)
- Honeymoon to Ireland
- My sister’s wedding in London (August 1, but close enough)
It’s going to be a busy month!
I also have a July fitness challenge for you all. The Body Basics Challenge has only 6 moves and you increase reps each day during the week. (Check here if you want more challenge options.)
It’s the kind of challenge you can easily do while watching TV, first thing in the morning, or while you’re waiting for dinner to cook. Add it on to your regular workouts, or if you’re like me and trying to increase your running milage, this will help maintain some of your strength and conditioning.
I’m off to continue lesson planning!

I didn’t know you were going to IRELAND! I haven’t been there in ten years, but I LOVED it. We will have to discuss on one of our runs. Whatever you do, go to Galway! That is my absolute favorite small-ish city that I have been to in the world. And definitely stay in B&Bs-they will feed you so you won’t need to spend $ on breakfast or lunch.
Yup! My sister is getting married in London so we tagged it with our honeymoon. I studied abroad in London, so I am so excited to show Rob around.
Galway is our first stop in Ireland! We used a lot of Air BnB for our lodgings since most places, B&B’s included were full. It’s a busy time of year to go there. I’d love to hear your tips though!
SO excited for Chase the Moon!! Can’t wait to see all your photos from Ireland!
It’s going to be such fun race!
A trip to Ireland and London?! You still have a lot of summer fun!!! Enjoy!
I definitely do. Just not enough time to get planned for the school year. I’ll take the trip over the time to plan any day though.
Ireland and London?! You are going on my dream trip. And your sister is getting married on my birthday, so obviously it will be a great day. 🙂
I actually wish my school would go to a longer year/shorter summer schedule (don’t tell my students I said that). There’s so much we need to do and just not enough time during the year!
It’s going to be an awesome day, especially because it’s your birthday!
Agreed about the year round. Plus the students lose a lot of their knowledge over such a long summer break.
Your sister is getting married in London?
Oh my….that is fabulous!!! 🙂
You have such an exciting summer ahead of you!
And teachers DO work year round…regardless of how much time they have off! Plus, I really like a year round model!!!
Thanks for the work out. I am soooo participating in that!! 🙂
Yes she is! She has lived there for about 6 years now.
