When people learn that I am a personal trainer, they tend to talk about their fitness goals and why they are struggling to reach them. Apart from keeping their sweet/junk food eating in check, there are seven things that I hear over and over again.
These seven things are what inspired the Back to Basics Burn. For more information about the Burn, click here. If you are ready to sign up right now, click here. (Prices go up May 28!)
Reasons why the Back to Basics Burn is exactly what you need to reach your fitness goals:
1. Accountability – When starting a fitness program like p90x (which I loved) or a couch to 5k, or one you found online, there is no one to keep you accountable. Though you may start out strong, doing every workout, eating exactly right, there is no one but you to check in with you. The Back to Basics Burn brings you 6 days of accountability via Facebook and email (or other social media if you prefer).
2. Community – Fitness can be a lonely journey. Some of my clients have felt like they are the only one among their friends getting in shape and trying to work on their health. The Back to Basics Burn comes with a built in community of other people trying to get fit, just like you. Frustrations and successes alike are vented in the FB group.
3. Taking the guess work out of the gym – With so much information being thrown at you about what you should be doing in the gym, many of my clients have come to me frustrated and confused about where to start. The Back to Basics Burn gives you exactly what you should do each day, so you
4. Having a personal trainer to answer your questions – Should I be sore here? Can I modify a move with this other move? What exactly is a burpee? Having your own trainer to answer your questions will help you maximize your workout time, while preventing injuries. During the Back to Basics Burn, your personal trainer (me!) is at your beck and call basically 24/7.
5. Keeping it simple – With so many workout ideas on Pinterest, TV, magazines, and from your friends, things can get pretty complicated pretty fast. The Back to Basics Burn is named just that for a reason. The moves are simple with a MAX of 6 moves per workout. That’s about as simple as it gets.
6. Challenging yourself but going at your own pace – You have no one to compete with but yourself. Many of the Back to Basics Burn workouts are timed, which means you can move as fast as you want or as slow as you need. There is no pressure to be the best, as long as you are trying your best and approaching each workout with intensity.
7. Needing way too much equipment – Making sure you have absolutely every piece of fitness equiment Sport Authority can offer does not equal a good workout plan. With the Back to Basics Burn, you only really need a few different weights of dumbbells. Every single workout can be done at home, and even the dumbbell moves can be replaced with a no-equipment move that works the same muscles.

RQ: What are some other things you find essentia/struggle the most with when striving for your fitness goals?

I’m Brooke Selb, a Personal Trainer and Health Coach specializing in helping busy moms and moms to be to easily juggle mom life with family friendly recipes, and easy exercise routines to help you achieve your fitness goals that fit in with your already busy life with sound nutritional advice.

This is awesome! I have to agree with some of these. I like to work out at home. I have to try and find ways to do moves that will be beneficial but without equipment!!! Good luck on your next personal training session!!! 🙂
It seems like you do pretty well in your spare room. Plyometrics and push ups can really kick your booty.
These are great tips! Time seems to be a big issue for a lot of people. Although it is not a problem for me, a lot of people I know struggle with time and balancing work, family, obligations, etc. One thing I have found helpful with making time is routine. Once you get into a routine or learn how to set aside the time, it becomes a natural (and necessary) part of the day.
Yes, time is huge! Scheduling is a great idea. Then you can’t say no.
Many of the problems with starting up a routine that you listed above are why I’m loving TRF runs and volunteering for the Step into Running program through TRF. 🙂
Your TRF runs sound like so much fun. I love reading your posts about them!
