Well, it’s started.
The process of packing is under way. I went through the apartment today and tried to organize our stuff and put it in suitcases based on what we need when and where.
Considering we don’t have much to begin with, I made a rather large mess.
I have to admit that even though Vietnam drives me crazy and I am so excited to get back to the states, there is a bit of nostalgia happening as I prepare to leave. Like, this whole year will just feel like some sort of dream and I will forget all the little nuisances about life over here.
Then I see a street corner in our neighborhood that looks like this and my excitement to head home is doubled.
Apart from packing, I got a hair cut. The hair dresser, who speaks zero English, handed me a binder so I could pick a style. This is what I ended up with:
My hair got long in Vietnam and I love that it’s back to being short, bouncy, and fun. Plus it makes for some awesome bed head.

I hope moving doesn’t stress you out!!
Moving is not my fave thing…even though I do like unpacking stuff and putting it away 😉
Love your new hair cut!!!!
Thanks! I actually really enjoy moving. The purging of the stuff is somehow theraputic. Plus, I love exploring and getting into a new area.
What wonderful adventures/experiences you’ve been able to have there, Brooke. Now it’s time for some new ones. 🙂 It’s already 80 degrees in Denver!
Thanks for the encouragement, Maddie. I will take 80 over 95 and humid any day.
95 and humid would break me. 😉
Every. Day.
I really don’t like moving, but agree that purging unnecessary belongings can be very therapeutic. I get extremely nostalgic about moving. What an exciting time for you!
Thanks, Ashley. I find it really hard to purge stuff if I’m not moving. The second I have to haul it, nothing is safe.
Oh, I am so excited for you that you’ll be headed back to the states! You have this blog as a journal of some of your Vietnam experiences. I’m sure you’ll love reading through them later 🙂
Absolutely. The travel blog Rob and I have kept this past year is an awesome record. This one just adds to it!
i didn’t realize you kept a travel blog, too!
I’ll have to look for that…
