I was compensated a free entry to the Nourished Festival in exchange for this blog post and social media coverage on the day of the event. All opinions are my own.

Spring is officially here in Denver with a hint of summer heat added to it. We had snow at the end of last week and then a gorgeous, 80 degree day on Monday and again today. Denver’s weather has always been strange, but talk about a temperature swing! The kids and I were able to play outside in t-shirts, barefoot, and with sun hats while I wore shorts. Time to get a little color on these pale winter legs.
William is still working on getting his top teeth and has been a drooly, snotty, cranky mess. I do love those late night cuddles though as our little boy is super active during the day and getting him to slow down is usually impossible unless there is food in front of him. Like mother like son, I suppose.
If you read my health and fitness story, you know that I used to have no idea how to cook or fuel my body well. A healthy gourmet meal to me was a drained can of lentil soup dumped over a bowl full of whole wheat rotini pasta and covered in parmesan cheese.
Over the years, I have learned how to cook true healthy meals for myself and my family with meals like Lightened Up Chicken Salad, Easy Meal Prep Cobb Salad, and Vegetarian Southwest Quinoa Dinner Dip. While these meals are not hard to make, they did take some time to learn how to put together and this is coming from a person with no food allergies. I know how much more difficult this would be for someone with a food allergy.
That is why the Nourished Festival is an ideal place to go to learn about over 100 brands. I attended this expo last year when it was the Gluten Free and Allergen Friendly Expo. This year, they have seriously upgraded to include nut free, Keto, Paleo, and plant based diets. Which means more delicious eats, brands to feel good about, and new foods to fall in love with.

Based on last year’s event (and I know this one is going to be bigger and even better), here are a seven things you should expect at the Nourished Festival.
1. Not to having to ask if something is gluten free. Every single vendor at the Nourished Festival offers gluten free eats. This means you can skip the question and just enjoy the samples.
2. Lots of samples from over 100 incredible brands. Just about every single vendor at the Nourished Festival offers some type of sample. You will be able to try tons of new items and if you chat with the staff of a particular brand, they would love to tell you all about their product and might even give you a second (or third!) sampling.
3. Happy people. The only upset person I saw at the Nourished Festival last year was a toddler who was just over it about two hours in. Completely fair. Everyone else was so happy to be surrounded by foods they could safely eat, free goodies, and full bellies.
4. Tons of free goodies. Apart from just the passing samples during the festival itself, most brands give out free samples to take home in real sizes. With many of the brands are showcasing specific flavors that you cannot yet buy in stores.Almost every single vendor gives out some high value coupons as well.
5. Discounted prices on brands you love. There are major expo discounts on the foods you love meaning you can buy an item at a fraction of the cost as you can at a store.
6. To fall in love with a brand you have never heard of before. Since I do not follow a particular diet, but have many clients who do for health reasons, I do not know all the gluten free brands. I fell in love with a few companies at last year’s Nourished Festival and am looking forward to finding a few more that I start buying regularly.
7. A full stomach. Seriously. With every single vendor offering something tasty to eat, you are going to want to come hungry as you will definitely leave full.

A few tips on how to prepare for the Nourished Festival now that you know what to expect:
- Go hungry. See number 7 above.
- Be ready to carry a heavy bag. The vendors want to give you samples, coupons, and swag. You might find yourself lugging around a pretty heavy swag bag for the duration of your time at the Nourished Festival.
- Wear comfortable shoes. There is lots of slow walking and tons of standing.
- Pack some water. You are going to get thirsty and the gluten-free beer may not make the cut.
- Keep an open mind. Try as much as you can even if it is a little out of your comfort zone.
- Try lots of new things! Eat, eat, eat!
