I received a weekend pass to the the GFAFExpo in exchange for coverage of the event. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. I appreciate your support!

During my first teaching job in Arizona (10 years ago, oh my), I thought it was both progressive and sad that there was a nut free table for those with allergies to eat at. I felt so bad for those kids who had to sit there, alone, only bonded by their allergies, to eat.

Fast forward to present day and Zoey’s daycare is a completely nut free school. Some of my closest friends are gluten free and dairy free and have no problems finding things to eat. Plus, there are entire expos devoted to foods free of allergens where those who have intolerances and allergies can gather and explore a whole slew of their available food options.

One such expo is coming to Denver! On April 21-22, Denver is hosting the Gluten Free and Allergen Friendly Expo in which visitors can chat with over 100 brands, sample products, receive coupons, and come away feeling part of a community and armed with new recipes and snacks to try.

Even though I am not Gluten free, I have been doing a lot of research on this dietary system. With Zoey’s eczema and my constantly cracking skin, one of the recommendations is to eliminate, or at least severely decrease, the amount of gluten in our diets. (The research also recommended going dairy free, but I am not ready for that one.) Before we attempt to be a gluten free home, I want to be sure of our options for things like my beloved pasta and quick, on the go toddler snacks.

Another benefit of attending this expo means I come back with lots of product recommendations for my clients who are also interested in a gluten free and allergy free diet. Right now, my recommendations are based on what I have tried from Costco and what my allergy free friends share with me, so I am really looking forward to expanding my repertoire of products.

There are also a number of classes you can attend as part of your day at the Expo that include topics like 30 years being gluten free, healing gut inflammation, and hidden allergens in daily living. Attending one of these talks would be a great way to round out your expo experience (and take a break from sampling all the food).

BFree is one of the sponsors and I have heard nothing but good things about their gluten and egg free wraps. I cannot wait to try them!
