Hello Friends!
My two and a half week MIA-ness from the blog world has been directly related to the fact that Rob and I bought a house!
We’ve been house hunting for quite some time and saw close to 70 homes. This Denver market is no joke as houses are going for more than their asking prices, a concept completely foreign to me.
But luckily, a week and a half before Christmas break, our offer on a home in Morrison was accepted! In a whirlwind, we ended up closing on the home on the Friday of break (a week and a half from the day we signed our contract for those of you doing some math), spent about 5 hours cleaning up the house, and then hopped a plane to New York to spend with family and celebrate all the amazing things going on in everyone’s lives right now.
Since landing back in Denver, we’ve done nothing but work not the house. If you follow me on Instagram, you know some of what we’ve done. But to give you an idea:
The home was an estate sell with extremely motivated sellers. All contents were being sold with the house and we spent a day and a half sorting, organizing, donating, and tossing.
The previous owners were smokers and the original owners of the 35-year old home. As a result, the popcorn ceilings and walls were yellow. We scraped them, sanded them, primed them, and painted them white.
Now, we’re on to wall colors, carpeting, and bathroom renovations. AKA: the fun stuff!
With Rob back at work, and me starting up next week, our renovations will probably slow down a bit, but I can’t wait to share before and after pictures with you all once the after is complete!

Congrats! Look like your new home is about the same age as ours– very similar renovations! Fortunately, our popcorn ceilings were scraped by the prior owners, but I’m in the process of dealing with the dark wood trim 🙂 It’s everywhere!
Congratulations! Buying a house is a huge undertaking, but it’s really exciting! As someone who has been renovating for the last five years, I wish you luck 🙂 We scraped, textured, and painted the ceilings in our house before we moved in. It was a big job, but it really made such a huge difference!
Congrats on the new home! I’ve always wanted to “gut” a house. My first house I did upgrade the tile and appliances, but hired help. Too much to take on by myself and my second house was brand new so I didn’t have to do a thang!
OMG I’m so jealous! We have been talking about starting the house hunt lately and it’s so exciting. I can’t wait to follow all of your progress!
Congratulations – love watching your work on FB!!! Can’t wait to see before and after pictures.
We have done lots of home reno work over the years – the biggest might have been taking down an 11 x 38 deck and building a new one out of composite – stairs and all!! Thankfully our marriage survived!!
Congratulations!! And what awesome timing to close right before break so you could get some work done! And Morrison … does that mean lots of trail running is in your future?
Congrats! 🙂 What a big undertaking… but that house is going to feel so much like YOUR house when you’re done. It’s going to look fantastic, too.
We have done next to nothing in our current location. We’ve moved so much that I think part of me has just been thinking, “what’s the point?” That said, I’m starting to get the itch to do a few little cosmetic things to a few rooms soon.
