One type of post that I love to read from fellow bloggers is a “coffee date” post. Basically, the author chats about things going on in a cozy, drinking hot coffee type of way. Since I don’t drink coffee (I know, I know), I thought I’d do a happy hour post. Same thing as a coffee date, except more my style.
If we were at happy hour, I would be grinning ear to ear, and not be able to stop, because I am a new aunt! My oldest sister, Kate, brought Parker William into the world this Tuesday. He is absolutely adorable and I can’t wait to meet him at Christmas!
If we were at happy hour, I would also be grinning ear to ear because two of my friends had their babies on Monday! It has been a baby filled week and everyone is happy and healthy.
If we were at happy hour, I would tell you that I am really enjoying the life group Rob and I joined. Everyone in the group is kind, personable, fun, and I am trying not be a stalker and ask them all to hang out in a non-life group setting. Not only that, but I feel like my relationship with God has deepened from attending our church and life group.
If we were at happy hour, I might be blushing a little because I am still getting comfortable talking about my faith, especially with those who don’t know that I attend worship every Sunday.
If we were at happy hour, I would ask you about your house buying, owning, and hunting plans/situation. House hunting is heartbreaking. Rob and I know where we want to live, how many rooms we’d like, and my complete aversion to creepy basements. We thought we found “the one” last week, but lost the bid to a higher offer.
If we were at happy hour, I would tell you that I have to get home before the craziness of Halloween begins. I don’t want you, or I, to be on the road with the drunk drivers, droves of kids trick-or-treating, and the general mischief-makers. Plus, Amazing Race starts at 7 and Rob and I have a date to watch it.

I did a post like this a long time ago because like you I don’t drink coffee but I’m all about Happy Hour!!!
I hope Amazing Race recorded tonight – I think we still haven’t watched last weeks – we are behind these days.
There is a couple on Amazing Race called Brooke and Rob(bie), which drives Rob and I crazy!
Yesterday, my RTD bus driver warned us to be careful of drunk drivers on the roads at night, so when I went out last night, I was terrified that someone was going to hit me! I never realized that was a Halloween issue… I guess maybe it’s just because of all the college students in town?
The college kids and the adults who don’t have kids having parties.
Congrats to you for becoming an auntie and friend-aunt to so many kiddos born in the past week. Are you and Rob going to have kids? I think that it is great that you have found a life group that connects with you and Rob. My husband and I have never been part of a life group, but attend a great church that delivers a good message each week.
I know exactly how you feel about the house selling, seeking, buying situation. My husband and I bought a house almost two years ago and are already in the process of finding something different. We were really pressured and rushed at the time, and bought something that was a great investment. However, the house is not really “us” and we are starting to realize this. I think we both want something that we see a future in. Finding “the one” is harder than it looks. We also watch house hunters every night and are tempted to apply. 🙂
So, if you don’t drink coffee, then what do you drink in the morning? I love grabbing a coffee and going on a walk with a friend… or getting dressed up and going to happy hour… depends on my mood, but either is great!
Church messages are so so important. I used to attend a church that had terrible messages pretty much every week. I finally had to throw in the towel and find a new one.
The rushing and pressure of home buying is quite serious. I’m sorry your house isn’t a good for you two, but hopefully you find something better for you sooner rather than later.
I don’t drink anything in the mornings really. Just water. I sometimes have a tea (in winter) in the early afternoon, but other than that, I’m water about 100% of the time.
I like tea, so a tea or wine date is more my style. Congrats on all the new little ones!!
If i were at said date I would commiserate the woes of house buying with you, since we have recently realized it will be yet another year before we find that house we want so bad. It’s seriously getting frustrating.
I’m sorry to hear you have to wait another year. Hopefully your current place isn’t as small and out grown as Rob’s and mine. Our biggest problem is a lack of storage! There are not enough closets or places to put things we don’t use every day.
I’m so sorry about losing out on the house. I so feel your pain. Years ago, when we were first going through the home buying process, a deal on a perfect house fell through the week before we were due to close. Heart breaking is just the right sentiment for it! Luckily, hindsight has allowed us to see that particular wasn’t so perfect, and everything worked out for the best. Good luck!
Ouch. A week before closing? That is truly heartbreaking.
