It was a beautiful weekend here in Denver.
Especially since I was floating off most of my intervention students rocking it on their standardized test!
During my 14-miler on Saturday, I found myself in the middle of a race being run along the path right by my apartment. My first few miles ended up being a bit quicker then normal because of it. It was kind of fun to semi-race without actually racing.
Yesterday, I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app. I have heard a lot about it and thought it was time to give it a try for myself.
Holy eye opening!
Saturday was no problem because I ran 14 miles and burned a ton of calories. Dinner was crazy high in calories, but it was the main thing I ate.
But today? I did about 15 minutes combined of elliptical and stationary bike along with arms and abs to give my legs a rest. Since MyFitnessPal doesn’t count strength workout calories, it is like I did nothing! But I am feeling pretty strong for my slow-to-grow, muscles-don’t-come-easy arms.
This is my calorie count for today, and I haven’t had dinner yet!
(Blame it on the girl scout cookies.)
On weekends I tend to eat a little less clean and a little more lax, so it will be interesting to see how a weekday turns out. I don’t think MyFitnessPal is the kind of thing I will use everyday, but if I have a beach vacation coming up, big event to prepare for, or am coming off a relaxed week, I will definitely use it to reign myself in.
RQ: All my teacher blends, do you get dorky-excited when your students rock it? How was your weather this weekend? Do you use MyFitnessPal or a similar app?

I totally get excited when my students rock it!
Weather was also beautiful here this weekend – I ran 4 miles yesterday and it was pretty awesome 🙂
Gunshow uses “My Fitness Pal” and looooooves it! He is always on that thing!
Way to go on the 4 miles! Well if a body builder uses it, it has to be pretty legit.
I have never tried that and I am so afraid to do so. On the one hand, I KNOW I overeat while marathon training. On the other hand, I feel it is necessary half the time for all the combined work I am doing and I am not sure I trust that calories burned can really be accurately counted. But more power to you to try it! And way to go on 14 miles. I had awesome runs this weekend 🙂
Marathon training is all about overeating for me.
I’m an excel dork so I put everything into an excel file that spits out all of my macro % and averages my eating for the week. Well I mean I do when I remember lol.
I also have that weak arms problem. I swear if I don’t life my elbows are the thickest part of my arm. It’s awekward.
You log it all yourself? That’s seriously impressive!
Glad I’m not the only one with the skinny arm issue.
I’m pretty sure that I would be too lazy to log everything into the app – part of why I haven’t ever tried it.
Looks like you did have lots of kids with huge improvements – way to go!!!
It is kind of annoying for the first day or two.
Thank you!
