As I am sure you know by now if you’ve been hanging around my blog for a while, I am going through an odd transition of lifting more and running less.
Even though the lifting is fun and I feel more fit than when I only run, I still can’t get past the thought of , “This isn’t cardio.”
Through all the research I have been doing, I know that you burn more calories for longer when you lift, versus running. It’s just in my head that I need that cardio component, in some way shape or form, in order to make my workout complete.
So, to help that thinking while still getting in the awesome benefits of lifting, I created The Cardio Burst Circuit Workout.
I have done this workout a few times now and find that I get a solid lift in while still getting my heart rate up. It’s really the perfect combination for me.
Remember to lift heavy during the weight portions. I used 11-13 pound weights for all the moves except for the weight walk, I used 30 pounds. I know 11 pounds isn’t much, but for me, it’s a tough weight while still keeping good form.
RQ: Do you do a lifting/cardio mix or focus on one versus the other?

After my half marathon training, I am going to start incorporating weight training into my routine! My husband is super excited about this since he is a body builder 🙂
Whoa. You live with a body builder? That’s intensely awesome. Have you done any weight training before?
hahah love the e-card!
I lift the glass to my lips; count as weight training?
I’m more of a cardio girl myself, but will occasionally put in a tape that combines exercises with light weights.
