Well, I overslept on Saturday morning. I didn’t set my alarm for my early run, making the mistake of relying on my body to “naturally” wake itself up at the appropriate time. Ha.

Apparently my body’s natural idea was to get me some extra shut eye. By 7:30, the sun was brightly reflecting off the building next door and the streets were void of any exercisers. Not a good sign.

Surveying the neighborhood from our window. Not a lot of people means it’s too hot to be exercising out there.

Instead of being able to run before the sun came up, it was off to the gym we went.

Now, I have run an hour on a treadmill before. Usually I find a movie to turn up and keep me entertained, but at the gym the TVs are on silent and there is pump-up music blaring through the speakers. Luckily I had a new Smartest Man Alive podcast downloaded to keep my mind from numbing.

I completed the following speed intervals during the full 68 minute, 8 mile run. It just made it easier to get through the time while getting in some solid training.

A growling stomach had me distracted when we got back, so I threw together a quick protein and carb post-run meal to replenish myself.

Apple, bell pepper slices, 2 eggs with cheese, slice of toast with grape jelly.

Two weeks until the Angkor Wat half and I am feeling pretty well trained. Definitely a good sign.
