Obsessions seem to grab me and not let go for an unspecified length of time. Some obsessions I’ve had in the past involved wrap sandwiches, Lord of the Rings, and Matchbox Twenty. One of my ongoing obsessions is Rob.

He was doing The Crane as a goofy race-prep.

Lately, there are a few fitness moves I am obsessed with and they have been popping up in my workouts pretty regularly. If you’ve been reading, you have probably already seen these moves in my first circuit and the Weekly Challenges.

Mason Twists: These are just straight up fun. My entire core feels engaged after 2. I also enjoy their fast pace, rather than the slow, methodical nature of typical core moves.

Side Bends: Do you ever feel like all your core exercises take place on your back or stomach? This little move gets you off the floor.

Lawnmowers: This move feels different to me than the standard arms and dumbbells moves that seem to dominate the weight room. Plus, I’ll be more than ready if I ever encounter a stubborn lawnmower.

Push Ups: The easiest way to get in some upper body when I don’t want to work with weights (or there are too many beefed up men hogging the weight section of the gym). Also, about 10 push ups make me feel like I’m really working.

Burpees: Crazy? Maybe. Burpees always give me a good challenge and they make great cardio. The more I do, the easier they seem to get (or I am really just delusional).

If you want to see what my obsession is all about, try this circuit that combines them all together:
