Routines. We all have them. From our gym exercises to the recipes we use, routine just seems to be a natural way of life.

Lately, my routine has me feeling like a zombie. Maybe that’s why I’ve been having so many zombie apocalypse dreams (or it could be all the Doomsday Preppers I’ve been watching).

I tend to thrive on changing things up. I get excited when my day-to-day schedule is interrupted by something out of the ordinary (though maybe not flat tires). It makes me feel alive and ready to tackle the new challenge put in front of me. Unfortunately, this change in schedule doesn’t happen very often.

Here is what my typical schedule looks like:

5:15-7:00 – wake up, check emails, pack lunch, get dressed for work

7:15-4:15 – work (teach four classes in one room all day)

4:45-6:00 – gym (usually)

6:15-9:30 – dinner, sit on the couch, TV, surf the internet

Thrilling, right? Of course there are other events mixed in there, but when there is no dinner with friends, special events, or errands planned, this is the shape my day takes.

I am looking to wreck this routine. Whether it’s small day-to-day things, or a truly new schedule for the whole day, my goal is to do little things that make my day more interesting and less doldrum.

Some days are just too routine.

This blog will be used to share the ways I wreck my routine through “Routine Wreckers”, workouts, lesson plans, and other small changes. Join me as I challenge the daily grind.
