While chatting with one of my stay at home mom friends last week, we were comparing notes on our little girls. Our daughters are only a month apart and it has been really interesting to project Zoey’s behavior ahead by a month after seeing the behaviors of her older friend.
Recently, my friend’s daughter went through a 10 day mental development period where she was fussy, cranky, and not napping during the day. This mom and I were commiserating over the long days you get when the babies do not nap and she put it perfectly, “You don’t even get a lunch break.”
It was the exact right sentiment to how it feels when you are caring for a little one all day. And we all know the plight of the full time working mom. While being a mom can be the most rewarding and joyful job, it can still grate on you to constantly be focused on someone else’s needs whether you stay home with your little one or work out of the house.
That is exactly why self-care is so important. Just taking even a few minutes each day to do something for yourself can be rejuvenating, regardless if you had a lunch break or not. That is one of the things I loved about Smile Brilliant. I was able to do something for myself while simultaneously accomplishing other tasks that needed to get done around the house.
With my teeth shifting due to overcrowding from my wisdom teeth, I am getting progressively more self-conscious about my smile. Combine that with the usual non-white teeth worries and I jumped at the chance to try Smile Brilliant. I have tried other teeth whitening systems in the past and found them to be either super messy or really ineffective. One product only covered the first six teeth, leaving uneven coloring. Smile Brilliant covered all of my teeth on both the top and bottom to make for even whitening.
The whole Smile Brilliant process was wonderful all the way from the ordering of the product to the actual whitening process. Smile Brilliant sends you teeth trays, molding clay, and detailed instructions for you to create your own teeth molds. It takes about five minutes to create the molds and then 30 minutes to let them dry, during which you can go about your daily life. Within a week of sending in my molds,my personalized whitening trays were in my hand.
My results from just one week of whitening are obvious. I whitened each night after dinner. Since the process involves using trays, almost like Invisalign, whitening for the recommended 45 minute minimum was very comfortable. I hardly noticed they were in as I washed dishes, folded laundry, did blog work, and enjoyed TV time with Rob (Shameless anyone?). It felt like I was actually taking time to focus on some self-care and give myself a little confidence boost while not missing a beat with my responsibilities around the house. It was guilt free!
On my last day of whitening, I did experience a bit of gum sensitivity and found it a little harder to keep the trays in for the full 45 minutes. Thankfully, once I put in the desensitizing gel, the irritation went away. A bit of a warning, when I would initially take the trays out, my teeth looked a bit splotchy, but that cleared up by the next morning for an even white across all my teeth.
These are my results after a week of whitening. I plan to continue whitening until I run out of the gels, so I will definitely post an update when I finish!
No matter what your day was like, finding some time to do a little self-care can really make a difference to how you interact with those around you. If you need a guilt free way to take care of your smile because you cannot miss a beat on your responsibilities, then Smile Brilliant is the absolute right way to go.

Whitening toothpaste usually ends up leaving me with sensitivity issues so I have stayed away from all other whitening products. My self care is usually 5 minutes in the AM just before I have to get the girls up and out of bed.
I have had trouble with whitening toothpaste also. My dentist even said not to use it. Those 5 minutes must be wonderful! I love getting up before everyone else while the house is still quiet. Something so peaceful about it.
