I received a free Denver map from Modern Map Art in exchange for this blog post. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. I appreciate your support!

When Rob and I moved into our house a few Decembers ago, we were coming from about 800 square feet to 2500. With the welcomed increase in space, came more walls to cover. We have lived in this house almost three years now and have a very limited amount of art on the walls. Our bedroom, the guest bedroom, the bathrooms, and a whole wall in our family room are completely empty.

When Modern Map Art offered to send me a city poster of my choice, I jumped at the chance. An opportunity to actually put something up on our walls? I’m in. Not only does Modern Map Art make high quality maps that are completely customizable, but they have prompt, and free, delivery. Bonus points for the tube package that Zoey now loves and has added to her toy box.

The minute I saw the image, I knew it was perfect for the cozy corner chair in our open floor plan. Next to the fireplace with a view of the kitchen and family area, the image adds a nice touch to my favorite space in our house (besides our supremely comfortable bed). I love that I can see everything from this chair and I often sit here and pretend to a read a book, or just chat with Rob after a busy day, while Zoey plays in the space she has taken over at our feet.

Once we put the image in a frame, Rob and I started immediately talking about getting a few more maps from the other places we have lived and are from – Minnesota, New York, Arizona, and Vietnam. I think it would be really fun to have a whole collage of maps from the places that mean the most to us. It also helps that Rob is a huge map guy since it is wall art that he can stand to look at for a while.

Truthfully, that has been our biggest hang up with not putting things on the walls. We both want what we display to have some sort of meaning for us. Some kind of sentiment that brings back happy, positive memories. Random paintings and posters will not work for us, even though there are some beautiful things out there. That is why this Denver map is so perfect for us. It has meaning in our lives even if we move.

Since we are becoming real adults now with real furniture (not off Craigslist), and actual wall art, this Modern Map Art image definitely needed a frame. I opted for the black since Zoey’s toys and books, plus our vibrant rug, add the pops of color we need. I got this 18×24 frame from Target for about $22. It is sturdy and light, which means it was very easy to put up. Well, Rob said it was easy since I just stood there and said higher or lower.

It has only been up for about a week, but I love how it ties this corner of our house together and gives the space a separated feeling in our open floor plan. Come one chilly winter morning, you are definitely going to find me here with a cup of tea, under that soft blanket, pretending to a read a book. Sounds pretty perfect.

Do you have any empty wall spaces in your house? What kind of wall art do you like to put up?
