Happy Friday all! I hope your week is winding down nicely and you have some fun activities on the agenda for the weekend. The weather here in Denver is supposed to be wonderful, which is much needed after our 10 inches of snow last weekend.
I wanted to give you a little insight into regular life apart from kitchen gadgets and Mahi Mahi Wraps. Here’ s a glimpse into some happenings around here organized by the numbers. I apologize (sort of) for the amount of Zoey pictures in this post, but she is pretty much my entire camera roll.
1. The number of Jodi Picoult books per year I am allowed to read because of all the tears and inability to do anything else until it is done. One of my students gave me her newest one, Small Great Things, to read. It hasn’t sucked me in the same way her others have, but her writing ability is unquestionably fascinating. I was crying in the first ten pages.
2. The number of times Rob and I picked up food rather than cook at home this week. It’s teacher appreciation week, so Chipotle and Papa Murphey’s were having some special deals for teachers. We couldn’t resist. Especially since Rob would eat Mexican food for the rest of his life and I would eat pizza for the rest of mine.
6:15. The time of morning when Rob, Zoey, and I leave the house for daycare drop off and to get to work on time. I am more than over it. Summer break is going to feel so luxurious not having to be up, dressed, out, and functional by then.
10 months and 17 days – Zoey’s current age. What a difference a year makes. Not only did the school year fly by thanks to my maternity leave, but Zoey grew faster than I thought possible. It just serves to remind me that everything is a season and not forever.
13. The number of hours our little lady would like to sleep. She gets about 12 hours on weekdays and 13 or 13 and a half on the weekends. Rob and I are so thankful to have a baby who 1) crashes hard, and 2) doesn’t wake up at night. (I may have just jinxed myself.)
15. The amount of school days left for all students except seniors who finish next Friday.
16. The amount of days left for teachers.
20. The number of women (and unofficially Rob) who are completing the Mile A Day May challenge. The support, enthusiasm, and participation is so fun. Everyone is kicking butt! If you want to take on the challenge too, just join us over at the Wrecking Routine Facebook page. The more the merrier!
31. The age I am turning on June 9. I struggled a bit turning 30 (especially being 9 months pregnant), but 31 feels so officially in my 30’s. I might struggle with this birthday more.
55. The amount of dollars I spent on creating a light box to take better food pictures. I want to get into more recipe and food posts, but taking pictures with my phone is just not cutting it. Thankfully, Rob is super handy. He built me one light box out of some leftover wood, didn’t like it, and then rebuilt me one out of PVC piping. It’s still not finished, but it’s a start.
