Every Saturday, a group of women in my neighborhood get together at our local park for a workout. I organized the group fitness workouts as a way to meet more people in the community and to get in a good sweat with some new friends. The best part is most of us bring our kids to play together, or on the playground we meet near. It is a great way for both mom and babies to hang out!
Since I create the workouts for our group each week, I wanted to share them with all of you in case you have a group you would like to workout with as well. I also wanted a place to store these for future reference! Some of these group fitness workouts you need a few people to complete, and others you could completely do on your own.
The only equipment I sometimes bring to a workout is a fitness bar that weighs about 12 pounds, a bluetooth speaker to keep our energy up, and a set of bands that I fling over a tree branch. As a result of having minimal equipment to work with, all of these group fitness workouts are no, or very minimal equipment.
Keep in mind that I walk to our meet up location about a mile from my house and usually push the stroller, so I try to keep the workouts very low on equipment. These are the items that I love bringing with me to group fitness sessions:
- this 15 pound weight bar
- this rechargeable bluetooth speaker that we use both at home and at a workout or open house for Rob.
- these resistance bands that are quick to change weights for and I can just string over a tree branch or set up a station for.

Partner Dropset – This one requires a partner, team motivation, and a bit of counting!
Final Countdown – A cardio AMRAP workout that needs no equipment except a timer!
Partner Cards – One person flips a card and completes the strength move while everyone else does the cardio move until the “flipper” completes their reps. It takes a bit of concentration, but is a sweaty cardio workout!
Bump & Go – Inspired by Lifting Revolution, this workout is always a hit since partners truly have to work together to keep things moving.
Whirlpool Workout – Keep the rotation going until everyone runs twice. It keeps things moving and gets sweaty fast! This one is perfect for groups of 7.
Team 1,000 Reps – This group fitness workout requires a bit of counting, but really invokes that team spirit. Divide a larger class into groups of 6 and have them race to reach 1,000 reps first!
I’m sure I’ll have another set of group fitness workouts to add to this list in a few weeks. Workout with a partner, or a team, for a common goal is definitely the way to go! Even if we are all wrangling babies in between.

Hi Brooke I like your workout plan here especially with the whole block that you plan for. You should get someone else to come up a lunch meal plan for everyone!
That’s a good idea. I could definitely add that to my workout plans.
