Utah is one of my favorite states for national parks. Zion, Arches, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands. Every single one of them is jaw-dropping gorgeous.

While Zion remains in the top three of my favorite national parks, Canyonlands makes it a close race. Here are 9 reasons why you need to visit Canyonlands National Park at some point in your life.

Canyonlands National Park

1. The views. Every where you tun, the breath taking views hit you full force.

2. The ability to stand in front of one of the most photographed places ever.

3. The dizzying heights. Though they’re not 14ers, with the expanse of land, deepness of the canyon, and openness of the sky, anything you climb feels severe.

4. The cairns. Ranger made and tourist made.

5. The slick rock. Except when it rains and truly lives up to its name.

7. The seemingly endless sky. Anything is possible with that much sky laid out in front of you.

8. The cactus flowers. Living in Colorado makes me miss the vibrancy and shock of cactus flowers. Canyonlands has plenty.

9. The roads you can drive down.

10. The huge amount of nearby campsites. Even on the busiest of weekends, you can find a place to pitch a tent or park your car somewhere in, or near, Moab.
